Podcast explores how Marketing can help Procurement find its 'Why'

I have created many podcasts and webinars over the years and written many scripts, but I was never invited to share my own perspective. When Sam Jenks of Kodiak Hub reached out and asked if I would do an episode of their podcast, The Way We Source, I jumped at the opportunity.

Kodiak Hub is a provider of end-to-end supplier management capabilities that has evolved its offering over the past years. I first met with Samuel Jenks 4 years ago when the focus was still on supplier onboarding, performance questionnaires, and related features. Looking at the extensive feature overview now, it has developed into a full-fledged Supplier Relationship Management capability, including supplier risk management, innovation, and collaboration.

But none of this matters for 'The Way We Source'. The podcast is just about interesting characters in the procurement space and their unique stories and perspectives (flattering, huh?). So, I was happy to share my journey from category manager to procurement consultant and software marketer and the learnings I made along the way about Procurement, Marketing, and Technology.

Marketing needs to provide a strong reason to believe. It starts with a 'Why', is clear on 'Who' it is for, and answers 'What' it does for them. By understanding how Marketing and branding work, we can translate these learnings to help Procurement position and advertise itself internally. Ultimately, this clarity also helps solution providers be more focused on their role in this setup.

Advance Procurement helps Procurement teams and solution providers speak the same language to accelerate transformation and unlock value. The reason we need this is simple: they tend not to speak the same language or understand each other. In this podcast, we explored the gaps between Procurement practitioners and solution providers, how ProcureTech providers can cut through the noise of the space, how the role of Procurement is changing, and how Procurement teams can establish their "Why".
